Midwest-born Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews is set to open two locations this summer in North Texas.

Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews is a garage-themed burger concept created in 2012 in Fargo, North Dakota, by a group of friends. There are currently nine Sickies Garage locations throughout North Dakota and South Dakota, Nevada, Nebraska and Florida. The interiors of the various Sickies Garage locales are known for their classic cars, trucks and motorcycles.

The Texas restaurants will be in Irving (3165 Regent Blvd.), which is set to open in mid-June, and Fort Worth (6770 Fossil Bluff Drive), which should open in August.

The concept was founded after a group of friends regularly met at a garage to talk and grill experimental burgers. All who met at the garage made their own special burger, and quickly the offerings grew into an arm’s-length list. As a result, the menu at Sickie’s has more than 50 burgers, along with about 50 different beers to help wash it all down.

Among the signature Sickie burgers is the Twin Cam, a burger topped with peppered bacon and nacho cheese, dialed in between two grilled cheese sandwiches for buns. The Glazed Doughnut Burger has American cheese and peppered bacon on a glazed doughnut bun.

There are also chicken wings on the menu with about 25 different flavors, including a Sickie’s original sauce: PB&J.

Desserts are just as over-the-top as the burgers, and many have booze in them. Silly Rabbit is a milkshake with Trix cereal, vanilla vodka, almond liqueur and sweet chocolate liqueur. The Buttery Fingers adult shake contains Butterfinger bits, Irish cream liqueur, butterscotch liqueur and vanilla vodka. Sickie’s also has malts and root beer floats.

Anew burger concept is coming to Texas, more specifically Irving: Called Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews, it’s a garage-themed burger concept that’ll open its first DFW location at 3165 Regent Blvd. in Irving.

According to a release, it’ll open in June.

A previously announced location in Fort Worth will be the second DFW location and is expected to open in August.
Founded in 2012 in Fargo, North Dakota, Sickies is a family-friendly concept known for its expansive menu with 50 burgers and 50 brews, as well as an automotive-inspired décor with classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

The menu features items such as:
Twin Cam burger with bacon and nacho cheese, placed on two grilled cheese sandwiches for buns
Glazed Doughnut Burger, featuring a glazed doughnut as a bun
wings, both regular and boneless
shakes and malts, both boozy and non-alcoholic
a bar menu that’s “revved up”

There are Kobe burgers. Super-charged burgers like the one with pepperjack cheese, jalapenos, and peanut butter. Patty melts, and 7 varieties of mac & cheese including Buffalo chicken, Philly mac & cheese with pot roast, and one with BBQ pork.
There are also homestyle dinners like chicken fried chicken and meat loaf, and a selection of fried chicken sandwiches.

It’s time for some historical lore, from the press release:
“In the early 2000s, a group of like-minded friends would meet up to tinker on their projects — motorcycles, cars, or to just talk shop. Grilling at the garage sparked a new avenue for creativity, crafting experimental burgers with unusual toppings that family and friends were excited to try. Testing the newest burgers at the garage, which quickly became known as ‘Sickies Garage,’ was often the reason to play hooky from work by calling in ‘sick.'”

So that’s where the name came from.
There are currently nine locations, including North Dakota and South Dakota, both of the Dakotas, plus Nebraska, Las Vegas, and Kissimmee, Florida. Irving will be the 10th and Fort Worth will be the 11th.

Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews, the burger concept born out of a garage in Fargo, ND, is set to roll into the Lone Star State next month.
The garage-themed restaurant known for its expansive menu of 50 burgers, 50 brews, and wings will soon open two locations in Texas. The first location, slated to open in mid-June, will be at 3165 Regent Blvd. in Irving, TX. A location in Fort Worth will follow in August.

Founded by a group of friends who enjoyed tinkering on their projects – motorcycles, cars, or just chatting shop – Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews has grown into a nationally known restaurant brand. What started as a few buddies grilling burgers and experimenting with toppings 20 years ago has evolved into burgers like the Twin Cam (topped with peppered bacon and nacho cheese, sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches for buns) and the Glazed Doughnut Burger (featuring American cheese and peppered bacon on a glazed doughnut bun).

The concept’s roots nod to friends gathering to test out the latest burger creations. The spot quickly became known as “Sickies Garage.” Taking a “sickie” from work to spend more time at the garage was a common excuse for absences for those in the know.
Sickies garage-inspired designs include décor from classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

In addition to burgers, the current menu also clucks about 25 sauces for traditional and boneless wings, a selection of shareable appetizers, hand-spun boozy and non-alcoholic shakes and malts, and a robust bar menu.

The Irving location will mark the 10th Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews restaurant and the first location in Texas. The Fort Worth store at 6770 Fossil Bluff Dr. will be the company’s 11th.
